McDonald Lodge, also known as the Lewis Glacier Hotel, is the second oldest lodge in Glacier Park. It was built in 1913 by John E. Lewis. Lake McDonald Lodge is one of the finest examples of a Swiss Chalet hotel remaining in the United States. One of my favorite things at the lodge are the hickory-type chairs that reside on the back porch facing the beautiful lake. Every year it appears that a few have been refurbished, but never all at the same time. It would be interesting to know what famous people have rested in these wonderful antiques. They are a favorite for anyone visiting the lodge. They are one of the first things I want to see when visiting the lodge. I think they have a wonderful personality about them!
