Thanksgiving Story to Warm Your Heart

Sundance of the Desert has a new home and this year Thanksgiving is going to be a special new beginning for him. Sundance has a new home and family to love him and it took him nearly a lifetime to find his special new family. Sundance, at age 11, found himself no longer wanted or needed and he ended up in a Golden Retriever Rescue in New Mexico. His owners were getting a divorce and decided he was too anxious, had too much hair, too many allergies and just “too much trouble”. Now, put yourself in Sundance’s position. Sundance thought he was a loving dog who had given this family his “all”. Then he found himself torn from his family and in a rescue shelter. What would happen and who would want an old dog? Life seemed grim, very sad and lonely. Sundance did not have much of a future until… a loving and caring couple showed up to the rescue. This couple wanted him and did not mind that Sundance was on in years. They took one look at him and brought him home to be a part of their family. Sundance joined Zak, a fun-loving cattle dog, who is his new best friend. Sundance was introduced to new food and tender loving care and his allergies went away. He loves to play and even acts like a six year old now. He loves to ride in the car with his owners and loves to be with them receiving lots of love in the evenings. He loves to race around the yard when hot air balloons pass over. He loves his backyard kingdom! Life is grand…

His owners tell me that he is healthy and happy and he has given them a special joy. They say they are the ones who are blessed and that he is is a “rainbow of love”. They say adopting a senior rescue dog has been the best experience ever. They know that his time may be limited, but know that Sundance will have enriched their lives beyond imagination. As for Sundance, he is the happiest and contented dog around his neighborhood.

Happy Thanksgiving, Sundance! Have the best day ever! Also hoping that his new “people” have the best Thanksgiving Day knowing that they have made such a huge difference in the life of this sweet dog…

Weekend Cowgirl will take a break from blogging this week so she can enjoy turkey time with the Cowboy. See you next Monday. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

What a great story. Brought some tears as we have a Golden named Lucy who is up in years. I can’t imagine giving her up for any reason. She would be devastated and we would be too.

We have a senior Black Lab and could never give him away. We lost his buddy earlier in the year and it is very hard. Animals deserved to be loved and Sundance did find the perfect home thank goodness,
