B-what a fun thing to look for! this is so similar to a presentation I saw at Ignite Portland.. the speaker’s hobby was to go out driving and photograph decorated/painted mailboxes. he had photographs of hundreds of different designs and talked about the best places to find ‘em. ping me and i’ll see if I can dig up the link for you…

I love the old signs too. They are few and far between here. Road trips would be fun to do. Hoping to do one this summer.

We have a whole block here that has just been “re-vitalized” where they painted OVER all the old stuff–but they still call it by the old name–Catfish Alley. If looks great, and the shops are still pretty much the same, but it has lost it’s “flavor” with the new paint. I think they called it “progress”.

Have you seen the original “Winnebago” down at Lone Pine??? Now THAT is worth the trip! We’re riding out a huge blizzard here as I speak…aren’t you glad you’re in sunny Weather? ;)

I love this idea!! I told my husband that I wanted to go to as many small town county fairs as possible this year. The mailbox site sounds cool!!
