Vintage Beatty Galvanized Tub

One of my favorite things around the farm is lots of old galvanized pieces. I love the way galvanized pieces look and they are always have many fun possibilities. I use lots of old pieces for planting or use tubs for just putting “junk” in before I come into the house. Someday I will tell a funny story about me and my galvanized container collection, but will save that for another day…

I found this wonderful old galvanized tub in Montana, but it was too large for me to get home! My friend got it and it is a beauty. This tub is huge and is great for parties as it will ice down tons of soft drinks and beer! It was from the old company in 1920s who made washing machines and this was the tub part. Lots of people made planters out of them which is really nice, but I would hate to ruin this one. It makes a great drink server! Sure there are many clever ways out there to utilize this tub. Every country place should have at least one piece just hanging around!

I have a square on this size on my back porch and when I am dirty and need to go in house just pitch everything in where I know where it is!

  3. Ooh, brilliant. I adore repurposing old things. It touches upon my love of heritage and tradition AND my need to be environmentally conscious.

  4. Don’t know how I missed this! But I NEED this old tub! I’ve been renovating a basement laundry room. And I’m incorporating a DOG WASHING STATION in the Laundry Room! It’s the only thing I haven’t finished because I have’t found the “right tub”. And THIS is IT! It would just be great–length, width and depth, I can just tell. All it needs is a whole in the bottom for the drain! Wonder if your friend would sell…

  5. When I was a little girl, my grandmother had several of those big galvanized tubs. She would fill them up with the water hose and let us play in them like kiddie pools. Fond memories whenever I see one of those.

  6. I would put plants or flowers in that very nice tub. Richard from Amish Stories.

I have one of those Beatty tubs with the red letters….not as red as yours but in excellent condition as it has been stored up in a barn. Wonder what I should do with it….keep it as a memory or sell it and make some money? I live in Ontario Canada
