Girls Party Weekend

This was a very special weekend with friends, food and fun.

Traveled to a fun destination where friends and I had a little fun in the sun shade, good food and hosted a wedding shower for a close friend.

Love any reason for a road trip and this short weekend provided us with fun times! No road trip is complete without stopping for some great food along the way and this weekend was no different. We stopped for lunch on Friday at a real” honest- to- goodness” old fashioned tea room! What did we have? Tea sandwiches and soup, of course. The plate came with tuna sald, chicken salad, pimento cheese and cream cheese/ cucumber. For dessert we enjoyed a slice of strawberry cake topped with whipped cream. Lunch was a big thumbs up.

After arriving at our hotel we quickly checked in and walked ran to the pool. Would’t you know that dreaded rain clouds followed us the entire way. However, we were on a mission to enjoy the fabulous pool and that is what we did- shade and all. The weather was warm and we relaxed by the pool while enjoying a margarita or two which was wonderful. We also demolished a basket of chips, hot sauce and queso which was even better! I even managed a little tan which was an added perk. This was probably my fall good-by to relaxing pool-side so by Christmas I will be dreaming of warm weather and laying by a pretty pool.

While having all this fun we also were listening to relaxing water sounds made by this waterfall. I didn’t fall asleep, but I sure felt like I was in la-la land…

On Saturday we hosted a lovely wedding shower! Our tables were decorated with mirrors, silver goblets with tulle’ and pearl strands. Very classy.

We served champagne and brie bites when guest arrived. Salad, chicken crepes over rice with green beans and rolls were served for lunch. The crepes were out of this world.

The best was saved till the last. Moist white cake with butter-cream icing and key lime filling. It was an amazing cake and decorated with strawberries! It may have been one of the best white cakes I have ever tasted. The key lime filling did not disappoint. I need the recipe!

What a fun weekend. It was so very energizing to travel with friends. I need to do this more often!

  1. I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy that you had a great week-end. I was going to write you deserve it after losing the goats — which I’m really really happy to read they were found. i was in tears when I read the post about them missing — I grew up in western NY near farms. Large, medium & small livestock are wonderful creatures and even up here in Alaska my friends have goats, chickens, horses, cows. It is “therapy” to go visit & help with chores, have fresh eggs & milk, and relax listening to the animals talk! I love your blog :)
