Prickly Pear Cactus

Cactus at the farm is…well cactus. We have too much of it and it is constantly a thorn in our side. (Pardon the Pun!)

In the spring it has very pretty yellow flowers. In the fall is has beautiful pink “fruit” and nothing is prettier than all the plants with the varying degrees of pink everywhere.

My theory is if you have to endure the cactus at least you can enjoy the “pretty in pink” in August and September when the landscape is brown from the summer sun.

The pink fruit can vary from a light pastel pink to magenta. Some days they are absolutely stunning even though they are not a farmer or ranchers friend!

Joann, I actually thiught about trying to do something, but think it’s a time factor this year. Maybe next year I can get my act together! I need to do some research on it!

  2. It does look beautiful even if it is a pain! I would try and make some sort of cocktail with that cactus : )
