Rattlesnake Whisperer

Rattlesnakes just “appear” around me like a magnet. Cowboy can go several years without bumping into one, but not me. They always “pop-out” of hiding when I am around. We live where it is very rocky so I imagine there are tons of them out there and I just try to stay out of their way! My friends all call me the “Rattlesnake Whisperer” so imagine how I jumped up and down when finding this bag a few years ago. I put it back for a “rainy day” and now I am going to use it! I think it is a fun tote and it will be my official going around bag this spring and summer. It is even big enough for me to tuck my purse inside along with my camera.

I think people are going to take notice of this bag! Can’t you just hear the “rattlers”??? (Click on photo to see a clearer picture of the design on bag. So cute!)

Amish Laundry

I took this last summer and think it is a really neat photo; especially for those of you who have never visited an area where the Amish live. When traveling the roads of Montana there are so many wonderful places to see and visit. Last summer we took a day trip to Rexford which is a small Amish community. We actually had traveled to Eureka earlier in day and had a little time so just detoured on some side roads. It took about half and hour to see all the wonderful old barns and the little development where the Amish families live. Most of the houses were log houses and all were kept in perfect shape. We did not actually see any Amish that day except for one young woman who was riding her bike.

As we were leaving this little community I happened to see laundry on the line and thought it was so different with the dark trousers all the Amish men wear. I debated and was very torn on to take the photo or not because a large part of me felt I might be invading the owner of these pants privacy. But, I snapped the photo. I later went to the Internet and found many Amish photos so decided it would be alright to publish this photo I took.

I love this photo. To me, it speaks about simplicity of life and that we should all strive to work hard and bring the simple things into our lives… that maybe material things do not add as much value to our lives as we think.

Hope you enjoy this little snap shot of a group who lives a very different life than most of us.

Dressing Up “Girlie”

I could not resist getting this for my little “girlie”. She is my two year old granddaughter. Went into the store to buy a gift certificate for a neighbor and walked out with this precious little summer dress. Having three little grandson’s is fun, but I must admit I get weak at the knee’s for the little girl summer frocks! Raising two sons was wonderful and having three little grandsons is double wonderful. But, I am enjoying buying tiny dresses and skirts now!

Baby, It’s Cold Outside

Today is really cold and I am pouting. I am not a cold weather person. I do not love the winter months of January and February. When March rolls around you will see me perk up knowing warmer weather is just a month away. I love warm weather and love the energy that the sun and warmth brings me. I am definitely looking forward to flip flop weather. Bring on spring. Bring on summer. I have my flip flops ready and waiting by the back door!

Minnetonka Moccasins- The New Vintage Rage

Who knew that something I wanted very badly at age 10 would suddenly become the latest “fad”? When I attended summer camp as a kid everyone was wearing these and I wanted a pair more than anything. Every year I wanted a pair more than the previous year, but I never did get that pair of moccasins! Minnetonka’s have been around since the 1940′s and now I am the proud owner of two pair! Yee-Haw! Just the memories of wanting a pair of these for camp and finally having them has made me one happy camper! And the fact that my daughter in law and two grand-kids are wearing them also is very funny. These moccasins are great for all cowgirls out there. In the 40s Minnetonka’s were marketed for the camper and resort crowds and were sold in resorts and souvenir shops around the U.S. Now everyone wants a pair or two! Can you believe you can find them at Nordstroms (or online)?
