Fall Memories

I was not in Montana for the beautiful fall foliage; however I have nice friends who send me photos. They know how I long to see all the magical changes that occur in the land of Montana. Honestly, I am going to place visiting Montana in November at the top of my list. In the meantime thanks to LL for sending these photos last month. Next year I must make me some Montana memories!

Lake Koocanusa

This photo of Lake Koocanusa. This beautiful lake is located in Montana. It is located past Eureka when you are driving to the small village of Rexford. Spectacular lake view! This area is a must if you are visiting Montana. The day I was there the water was still like ice and there was not one boat in sight. It is hard not to enjoy a nice water scene.

Bikes By Water

I took this bike shot at McDonald Lodge in Glacier National Park in 2009. Love the look of the bikes resting in front of the water. I love McDonald Lodge and take photos there every single year and never tire of the beauty. What a great place to visit. If you have never been you need to add it to your “bucket list”. It is definitely a national treasure.

Amish Laundry

I took this last summer and think it is a really neat photo; especially for those of you who have never visited an area where the Amish live. When traveling the roads of Montana there are so many wonderful places to see and visit. Last summer we took a day trip to Rexford which is a small Amish community. We actually had traveled to Eureka earlier in day and had a little time so just detoured on some side roads. It took about half and hour to see all the wonderful old barns and the little development where the Amish families live. Most of the houses were log houses and all were kept in perfect shape. We did not actually see any Amish that day except for one young woman who was riding her bike.

As we were leaving this little community I happened to see laundry on the line and thought it was so different with the dark trousers all the Amish men wear. I debated and was very torn on to take the photo or not because a large part of me felt I might be invading the owner of these pants privacy. But, I snapped the photo. I later went to the Internet and found many Amish photos so decided it would be alright to publish this photo I took.

I love this photo. To me, it speaks about simplicity of life and that we should all strive to work hard and bring the simple things into our lives… that maybe material things do not add as much value to our lives as we think.

Hope you enjoy this little snap shot of a group who lives a very different life than most of us.

Garlic is Good

I love garlic in basically most any food except for desserts! The only thing I love more is the garlic when it is growing in a garden. Garlic is a simple work of art! Every garden should have garlic to enhance the look of one’s garden. Last summer, I visited a garden that had a huge amount of garlic growing and it was so very captivating I could not take my eyes off of the loveliness of it all…

Took these garlic photos last week. Don’t you love the cute “curl” of the garlic. When the garlic is ready the curl goes away! Garlic in the garden will rival most any beautiful flower!

December Snow Re-visited

Here are two more Montana snow photos I had from the December snowfall. I do enjoy snow pictures. Have had no snow here this year so living through my Montana friends.

Again, old implements are so stately gathering snow.

This path is one we walk in the summer. Not sure I would know where to go with all this snow. I might possibly be one of those people who wandered off the trail only to find themselves lost!

Took this last summer in Glacier National Park. The rocks at Glacier have amazing colors and textures. I never tire of just sitting and looking at the different shades of golds, reds, browns and greens. Nature has provided such a beautiful palette for our enjoyment. Love how the one rock stands out from the rest. (Best view click on photo)
