Fall Farm Babies

The leaves are starting to fall and we have had some cool evenings which is much earlier than we usually get in October. Ready for our 90 degree fall days to come back! We have plenty of nursing babies and just three more that should give birth in next week or so. Some of the mamas are starting to get their fall fuzz in preparation for winter. Everyone is lazy and enjoying the cooler weather. I really enjoy fall as I know the animals all love it too. With November a day away I also feel a bit of panic as we all know I am not a cold weather person. I like warm days filled with sunshine and my flip flops! While the entire world is awaiting the first snow I am holding out for a mild winter! I am pretty sure all our farm animals would like that too!

Beach Thanksgiving

Wow, what a wonderful Thanksgiving I had! Spent a week in WaterColor Florida with my out of town kids. Such a special time to spend one entire week with them! The weather was a little cold the first day we arrived, but turned warmer each day we were there. The majority of our time we parked ourselves at the beach, however we also biked, canoed, walked, ate seafood. We were lucky to see the Seaside … [Read More...]

Ranch Fail

We had a beautiful "ranch fail" this week. My sweet favorite cow #35 (you have heard me rave on and on about her) for whatever reason did not get bred this last year. I felt so sorry for her as all her cow friends in her pasture had most of their babies in the spring. A couple of cows in her pasture have calved this fall along with the other mama's who are in the birthing pasture. I pictured poor … [Read More...]

Last Water Fun Of Summer

I love the water and especially a fun girl's weekend at the lake. Enjoyed the last bit of water fun this last weekend. It is always a melancholy event for me as I love catching the last bit of summer, but on the other hand knowing that winter will be looming ahead very shortly. All my friends know very well that I am NOT a winter person which make them laugh because we are generally blessed with … [Read More...]

My Special Montana Cabin

This is my very own special Montana cabin. Have been photographing it for over a decade. It is a lovely little cabin, but the elements are beginning to take their toll. I yearn to put a new little roof on it so it can live on ~  in all it's splendor. It may be tiny, but it stands mighty and proud. I wish I knew it's history, but I am content on documenting it from year to year. My heart and … [Read More...]

We’ve Got Bones!

You have flower pots full of pretty flowers. Me, I have flower pots full of bones. Bones of animals past. The kids all love searching for bones. They think it is the greatest activity ever. They spend hours searching for the next "good" bone. So now you know. You have flowers and I have bones. It gives a new meaning to garden décor. I bet this made your day?! … [Read More...]

July Baby

Had this little cutie last week. This little bull is about 30-40 minutes old in this photo. He was still trying to get his legs "going" while I was photographing him. He was wobbly and stumbling while falling down and getting back up over and over. Mom was extremely mellow and began grazing before he even got completely cleaned up allowing him to explore his new surroundings. Pure sweetness! … [Read More...]

Sweet Mama Love

I can never get enough of watching new moms and their babies. Sometimes I watch them for hours. It fills ones heart with so many feelings of renewal, joy and love. When I spend my time just watching the calves get dinner my heart seems like it will burst with every good feeling. I feel I am so lucky to be one on one with nature here at the farm. My heart is overflowing... … [Read More...]

Little Gray Cloud

This little calf is really not named "Little Gray Cloud"; however I named him that because his soft gray color compares to a light gray cloud before a thunderstorm or summer rain. I love his pretty light gray color and we don't have many gray calves. My fav for sure and he is adorable and spunky to boot! … [Read More...]

Mexican Hat Wildflowers

Because of all the rains last month we still have a few lingering wildflowers. This month the Mexican Hat flowers have been in abundance. I really have never noticed them very much, but this summer they have become a favorite new flower for me. It is a form of the Prairie Coneflower (Ratibida Columnifera). Don't you love them??? … [Read More...]

TCU Road To Omaha

Lake Deer

My daughter in law traveled last week to attend a "girl's weekend" lake party.  She always shoots the best wildlife photos with her phone and I just don't understand it. Our farm deer run fast when they see me coming and we do not even hunt them. Wouldn't you just think they would know they are safe and let me take a nice photo of them? But alas, most of my deer pictures have a blur because they … [Read More...]

A Dose of City Fox Cute

We have foxes at farm, although I rarely see them. One of our "city friends" took these photos in his back yard right in the middle of the city. They are simply too cute for words! Thanks to the "S" family for sharing them with us. You have more darling critters in your back yard than I find out in the country! These cuties take the cake for winning the award for just being too precious for … [Read More...]
