Spring Came Early

Wildflowers came early this year due to a very mild spring. No complaining here as wildflowers are my favorite time of the year. Wildflowers bring joy, color and just simple beauty for Cowboy and I to enjoy. Last week we had just a few popping up here and there, but with two showers this week they are […]

Wildflowers 2016

Well, April is nearly over and my rush to take hundreds of wildflower photos simply never happened this year. In fact, I never made it to the country roads to even look around to see where they were blooming the best. We have had so much rain this April which is good, but it seems […]

Cowboy’s Bluebonnets

We continue to be busy, but Cowboy snapped these bluebonnets with his phone a few days ago. Love it when he does that for me. Thanks Cowboy! I am hoping to get some good shots in this week, however rain is forecast for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday so we shall see. Make no mistake- we […]

First Bluebonnets on Easter

Happy Easter! Our first bluebonnets bloomed this week. They are exquisite in their beauty and so welcomed. Spring is really here and we are being rewarded by an abundance of wildflowers. They are going to be beautiful this spring since it is our first year in over five years to actually have moisture. It makes me joyful […]

Bluebonnets Are Blooming

The bluebonnets are finally blooming. Maybe my expectations were too high, but the farm bluebonnets are not very spectacular this year. The flowers are plentiful, however they are very small due to the continued drought. They just do not have that special “punch”.  Yesterday I decided to hit a few country roads in search of a few bluebonnet patches. I […]

We Have Wildflowers!

We finally have a few wildflowers which makes me “Over the Moon” happy! In our area, the wildflowers are just beginning to pop up. We had a brutally dry year combined with a very mild winter and a late cool spell. I am not sure we will have an abundance of flowers, but you just never know. We […]

FIRST Bluebonnet

If you read my blog then you know how disheartened I was last spring when we virtually had no wildflowers. This spring will be different and it looks like it might even be a GREAT wildflower season. This week our first bluebonnet appeared up on our hill. So exciting! Such a wonderful event for me. Such a sad […]

Longhorn in Bluebonnets

Isn’t this a great photo of a Longhorn in a Bluebonnet field? My friend P. took it last April when driving around her neck of the woods!

Flowers Beware

Think twice when carefully placing your babies, toddlers or kids in wildflowers by the side of the road to catch that perfect Bluebonnet photograph. Take the time to inspect the area really well for anything that bites. This big boy would not play nice.

Friday’s Flowers

Here are just a few samples of wildflowers I found along the side of the road on my way to town this week.  The roads are filled with so many pretty flowers! Photos were taken with iPhone.

Flea Market Girl’s Trip

A college friend and I traveled for a day trip to see a special friend who has recently moved about two hours away. We had the most fun ever! It was wonderful to laugh, tell old stories and spend time together. By the end of the day we had literally laughed all day long. We even chuckled when we […]

Heavenly Bluebonnets

This photo is of our Bluebonnet field three years ago. We had an entire pasture full of flowers and they were absolutely stunning. We have had plenty of rain this winter so should have them this season, but I am not seeing them like I did a few years ago. It will be interesting to see what happens. […]

Hoping for a Bumper Crop… of Flowers!

Last spring we were without any flowers. Not one wild flower anywhere. We were in the middle of a severe drought which left us with barely any green at all. This has been an extremely wet winter and it appears our spring will have an abundance of moisture also. If this happens, then we should […]

The Bluebonnet Boys

These are our sweet “retired” hunting dogs! They do not hunt anymore as they are both very old, but they can still love us to pieces. They are both happy dogs and at the end of the day all they demand is their treats!
