Monday Cow Post

I am writing this post while enjoying a big mug of Mexican hot chocolate! Thinking about what a tease the weather has been. We had the nicest weekend with very warm sun beating down on us. It was practically swim suit weather! I was able to take a few hikes and I spent the last four […]

Busy Week at the Farm!

Cowboy and I had lots of chores this week, but we also made time for fun too. Our weather is crazy. We have had virtually no rain this fall so I actually had to drag out our stored hoses and fire up the water sprinklers. Everything is a tinderbox so I am making sure the house […]

“Moo Love”

Took this on Sunday. Isn’t this the sweetest cow picture ever? Moo Love is so very sweet. If you click on photo you can better see the look of contentment on the baby calf. Baby had just had dinner and mom had been cleaning him. Then a special moment of nuzzling.

Baby Longhorn

Stopped and took this photo last week of this precious little Longhorn. Absolutely precious and I wanted to bring it home! Look at the little horns sprouting. We have never had any Longhorn cattle, but this sure makes me want one. I do not think Cowboy wants me to have any Longhorn cattle. Something about […]

Sunday Fun

Working at the farm yesterday was so enjoyable. Although around 88 degrees we had a brisk breeze all day. It was just a perfect day. Cowboy and I tackled our Sunday to-do list. First, on our list, was to take down most of my birdhouses. The racoon’s spent much of the summer trying to pluck […]

Surprise Baby

We bought a few new Black Angus cows last month on an on-line auction. We knew they were bred, but were not expecting any babies just quite yet. Woke up last Friday to a new baby. The new cattle were actually not in the cattle pasture, but in pasture with the goats and donkey’s! I am thinking this […]

Longhorn in Bluebonnets

Isn’t this a great photo of a Longhorn in a Bluebonnet field? My friend P. took it last April when driving around her neck of the woods!

Calf Cuteness

We had new calves at farm in July. Most of our cows are Black Angus so I love it when we have something a little different. Our cattle are artificially inseminated so that is how this little darling was produced. We sure love our calves and I loved that this one let me get right up […]

Spring Days At The Farm

This week at farm has been very busy and Cowboy and I worked on checking off items on our spring “to do” list! We love spring as it is a great time to get caught up on all the things you could not or did not want to do in the winter cold. It is a time to get the […]

Cows in Flowers

I loved this little group of cows. Over the years, we usually have had Black Angus or Black Angus Mixes. This group always made for great photo opportunities. They were easier to get a nice photo than the Angus are. This photo  was taken on a beautiful spring day and the flowers were starting to bloom […]

Freshly Born

This little lamb is just minutes old. Cowboy was in corral/barn area and happened to look in pasture to see this little one come into the world. Most of our expectant mamas stay in the pens, but this mom, for whatever reason was in the pasture.  The cool thing about this is that all the mama […]

Getting Ready For The First Big Freeze!

We had snow flurries today and we will have our first big freeze tonight where it will drop to around 23 degrees. We wrapped all pipes last week, but still have one last pipe to do tonight. Nothing like waiting until the last minute. I knew we needed to go ahead and take care of […]

Calves Relaxing

Took this shot last week of a few calves taking a rest break. Like any young animal they are very cute. At this age they like attention,  especially if their mom’s are not right with them. When mama cows go to graze one mom always stays close to watch the young. Pretty good system. They seemed to […]
